President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has responded to widespread mockery surrounding his recent mispronunciation of the word “kudos” as “kundusi.”

In a viral video shared on Tuesday, MC Oluomo defended himself, saying he’s not fluent in English but has raised children who are well-educated and now citizens of the United States and the United Kingdom.

“If you and my children come out to express yourself, I’m not sure you can beat them. They are highly educated,” he said.

“I trained my children properly with money. My children are citizens of America and the United Kingdom. I worked hard to get there.

“‘Kundusi!’ What happened? Grammars are too much. Grammar won’t finish Nigeria. I might not understand the English language, but I understand Yoruba.”

Firing back at those mocking him, he added;

”So they are mocking me for saying ‘kundusi’, is my child not Qudus? You that you are educated, what did you achieve?”

He also reflected on his humble beginnings and rise through the ranks in the union.

“I started as a bus conductor, then moved up to unit treasurer, unit chairman, branch deputy treasurer, branch treasurer, branch chairman, state chairman, and now national president. I worked hard to get here. I am not educated.”

This isn’t the first time his children have publicly defended him. In 2022, his son, King West, fired back at critics on Instagram after someone called his father a lout.
