An online poll comparing the latest album releases from Nigeria’s top music stars — Wizkid, Burna Boy, Davido, and Olamide — is gaining traction across social media, sparking fresh debates over dominance in the Afrobeats scene.
The fan-based poll, organized by entertainment outlet Olofofonaija, has attracted over 1,200 responses, with voters asked to pick their favorite from the four most recent albums.
Wizkid’s Morayo is currently in the lead, securing 58% of the votes and positioning him ahead of his contemporaries.
Davido follows with 20% for his new project 5ive, while Olamide’s self-titled album holds 14%. Burna Boy, whose ‘No Sign of Weakness’ was released on Friday July 11 2025, is surprisingly in last place with 8%.

The poll results have triggered wide-ranging reactions online. Many fans view Wizkid’s lead as a reflection of Morayo’s broad appeal and strong reception among core listeners. With rich instrumentals and themes of vulnerability and self-reflection, the album has been praised for standing out in a year crowded with major releases.
Davido’s 5ive continues to enjoy strong support, especially among fans who see it as a high-energy follow-up to Timeless. Olamide’s entry into the race has also been welcomed, particularly by those who credit him with keeping indigenous rap at the center of mainstream Afrobeats.

The numbers may shift as more listeners stream the albums in full, but for now, Wizkid holds the edge in what is shaping up to be a closely watched battle for album of the year.
