The reported death of Nigeria’s former President Muhammadu Buhari has triggered a cascade of public reactions — from prayers and reflections to fiery condemnations.

Notable personalities like journalist Kemi Olunloyo, actress Jumoke Odetola, and broadcaster Daddy Freeze have shared strikingly different perspectives on the late former leader’s life and legacy.

Moments after the news began trending, Kemi Olunloyo posted a blistering critique of Buhari’s political past. In her unfiltered message, she accused the former military ruler of repressing journalists during his military regime and described him as a “pathological violator of press freedom.”

She went further to assert that Buhari’s real age was 89, not 82, referenced his takeover of government in 1983 when her father was still in public office. In her words, his death marked a long-overdue reckoning for alleged injustices under his leadership.

She wrote:

Finally, Buhari and My Dad will meet in Hell. I hope everyone he locked up is released and all the journalists he executed during his military reign continue to rest in peace. I hope his family can now tell the world he was 89 and not 82 because he was 48 yrs with my dad in 1983 when he took over Shagari’s democracy.”
