For years, whispers and rumours trailed Temitope Solaja ‘Aruga’s’ evolving looks.
In the most candid part of her Talk to B interview with Biola Bayo, Temitope set the record straight and confirmed what many had speculated. She revealed that she had a liposuction and BBL.
Temitope was quick to add that the surgeries were for her, not for any man or industry pressure. She told Biola Bayo:
“I love fashion. I love to dress up. But my body didn’t align with my style.
I did the procedure to feel better in my own skin. When I dress, I want to look in the mirror and say, ‘Girl, you look good.’”
Temitope also fixed her teeth, after an accident left her feeling insecure. “I smile a lot. I wanted my smile to reflect how I feel inside,” she said.
Despite fears of backlash, the response to her transformation has been overwhelmingly positive. She said proudly:
“People tell me I look good — both online and in real life. And I appreciate it.
“I was beautiful before, but now, I feel even more confident.”
Despite it all, the actress who had a crush on Taiwo Hassan ‘Ogogo’, asserted that it hasn’t all been rosy. One of her most painful moments was being trolled for a grammar mistake in one of her films. She recalled:
“I said, ‘Why did you sold me out,’ instead of ‘Why did you ‘sell’ me out’. Fellow crew should have corrected me on set but they didn’t. And the internet didn’t let it go.
“It hurt because we forgive people who make mistakes in Yoruba, but drag those who mess up in English and English isn’t even our language!”
Now, Temitope revealed she is learning to tune out the noise and lean into self-love. “I don’t let people’s opinions define me anymore. I know who I am. I’m doing me, and I’m not done yet.”
