Nigerian music star Adekunle Kosoko, popularly known as Adekunle Gold or AG Baby, had the timeline in a frenzy on Wednesday after pulling off a surprise giveaway that turned random First Class graduates into overnight recipients of ₦250,000 each.
It all started with a curious tweet from the Party No Dey Stop crooner, who posted:
“If you graduated with First Class, post your transcripts.”
No explanation, no context, but that didn’t stop hundreds of X users from quickly uploading screenshots of their results, despite not knowing what to hope for. Hours later, the mystery was solved as Adekunle Gold tweeted again:
“Check your DM, you might have been picked.”
That was when the real drama began. Screenshots of credit alerts started flooding the timeline, with several lucky recipients confirming they had received ₦250,000 each from the singer. For many, it wasn’t just unexpected, it was life-changing.
One user shared that she had only ₦1,700 in her account before the miracle alert landed. Another nearly missed out because her X DM was locked, luckily, she was tracked down and rewarded after showing proof of her Distinction result.
As of the time of this report, at least 11 people have confirmed receiving the gift, with more possibly still under the radar.
But in true Adekunle Gold fashion, the giveaway didn’t end without a shade. The singer took a jab at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), tweeting that students from the school shouldn’t bother submitting their First Class certificates. This could be due to a 2015 experience he had in the school. He wrote:
”OAU Students, don’t bother😪.”
WITHIN NIGERIA recalls that in the year 2015, Adekunle Gold performed at OAU with limited songs, mainly repeating “Sade” amid tech issues. Unhappy students allegedly booed him, stormed his hotel, manhandled, and seized ₦150k of his ₦300k fee.
