Afrobeats superstar Davido is remembering his beloved son Ifeanyi Adeleke, nearly three years after the toddler’s tragic passing.
In a short but deeply moving post shared on his X page (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, the singer wrote:
“Ifeanyi David Adedeji Adeleke RIP LEGEND !!”

Though only three years old at the time of his death, Davido’s words reflect the immense love and sense of legacy he attaches to his late son, whom he shared with his wife, Chioma Rowland.
Ifeanyi’s sudden death on October 31, 2022, shocked the nation and broke hearts across the globe. The toddler reportedly drowned in the swimming pool at the singer’s Banana Island mansion in Lagos, just days after celebrating his third birthday on October 20.
The Lagos State Police later confirmed that an autopsy revealed drowning as the cause of death. Eight domestic staff were initially taken in for questioning; six were eventually released, while two remained in custody for further investigation.

Following the heartbreaking loss, Davido and Chioma withdrew from the public eye, choosing to grieve privately. The singer took a months-long break from social media and music, returning in early 2023 with the critically acclaimed Timeless album.
Interestingly, Davido revealed in interviews that he made a conscious decision not to include a tribute to Ifeanyi on the project.
“I didn’t want any sad songs. I wanted people to feel joy again,” he had said, explaining that Timeless was meant to mark a new chapter while keeping the memory of his son sacred and personal.
In October 2023, on the one-year anniversary of Ifeanyi’s passing, Davido shared a simple dove emoji on social media. It was a subtle but powerful tribute that resonated with fans.
Since then, the couple has found healing through faith, family, and new beginnings. In a beautiful twist of fate, Davido and Chioma welcomed a set of twins in the United States in 2023, a joyful milestone that many saw as a sign of restoration.
