Why I’m done dating younger men – Shaffy Bello

Celebrity Gig

Elegant, outspoken, and undeniably ageless, Shaffy Bello is known for lighting up every screen she graces. The 54-year-old actress who has always kept her relationship matters private has let fans in, like never before.

In a new episode of the Dear Ife podcast hosted by Ifedayo Agoro (DANG), the Shanty Town star got real about love, romance, DMs, and why dating younger men is now a closed chapter in her book. Speaking with certainty, she shared:

“There is no need for me to date a younger man. I have dated a younger man and don’t want to do it again. What I want now is different.”

According to the seasoned actress, that phase of her life was fun while it lasted, but she has since outgrown it. She clarified that dating younger wasn’t a mistake, just a season. She added:

“When I dated a younger man, I was having fun. It was for a season, and the season is over. But there is nothing wrong with it.”

And while many women her age may shy away from such topics, Shaffy didn’t hold back. She admitted her inbox is still very much alive, with attention coming from both younger and older admirers. She said with a laugh:

“Men slide into my DM. Over 50 and even younger men. It’s flattering, but the thing is, some of them are badly behaved. Some will tell me ‘Hi dear’.”

While Shaffy says she appreciates the admiration, she is however, no longer moved by empty gestures or unserious suitors. In fact, the actress revealed she is now open to marriage, but on her own terms and not the conventional. She explained:

“What I want now is marriage; I don’t mind marriage. But I have a different opinion when it comes to marriage. I think a lot of people are rigid when it comes to marriage.”

Shaffy, who was previously married for 25 years, seems to know exactly what she’s talking about, based on her lived experience and not social media fantasy. She also emphasized that while she’s open to love again, she’s approaching relationships with more intention and a sharper lens.
