Veteran actress Kate Henshaw has fumed at Nigeria’s aviation authorities over what she calls the “anyhowness” that has become normal in the country.
The fiery backlash began after a video surfaced online showing legendary Fuji musician K1 De Ultimate (Wasiu Ayinde) allegedly delaying a flight and standing shockingly close to an aircraft with its doors already shut and engine revving for takeoff.
The footage, which quickly made the rounds on X (formerly Twitter), has stirred outrage. Many sarcastic sighs about the two-tier system of privilege in Nigeria also followed.
Kate Henshaw, known for her no-nonsense takes on societal issues, tweeted:
“Anyhowness of this country!!
How is a passenger allowed to stand so close to an aircraft whose doors have closed, engine started & it’s ready for takeoff?
If na ordinary Nigerian like me now, agenda go agend.
Make we continue to move like we are in the zoo pls! It suits us.”
As expected, her post triggered a wildfire of reactions.
@IamEriOluwa: “All animals are equal but some are just more equal than the others… Until we decide to follow the values that Old Major spoke about, we’ll keep having this anyhowness of the zoo.”
@eatable_chidi: “If na ordinary Nigerian, the person for don dey sweat for police detention.”
@JLemon007: “They for don knock ordinary Nigerian with terrorism charge.”
@faka_strange: “This can never happen at JFK or Heathrow. And it’s the fact that some people are blaming the pilot for me.”
But things turned a little sour when one commenter tried to drag the actress personally.
@AyodeleGeorge10: “Old ostrich, use your age wisely… Even you, you will not be treated as an ordinary Nigerian.”
Henshaw wasted no time clapping back:
“Your mother is the oldest ostrich! Buffoon!! Get out of here! Baboon!!”
The heated exchange has reignited conversations about privilege, security protocols, and the impunity often granted to celebrities or people with influence in Nigeria.
Following the airport incident, K1 De Ultimate has apologized in a video shared on social media, however he has been blacklisted from flying commercial airlines within Nigeria for the next six months.
The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) confirmed the disciplinary action following the incident at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja, which reportedly involved the musician’s disruptive and unruly behavior.
Addressing newsmen, NCAA’s Director of Consumer Protection, Michael Achimugu, stated that K1 De Ultimate’s actions compromised airport protocol and disrupted standard boarding and departure procedures, prompting the agency to respond swiftly.
Additionally, the pilots involved in the situation have also been temporarily suspended, pending the outcome of a full-scale investigation.
