Afrobeats superstar Tiwa Savage has revealed that the deepest and truest love she has ever experienced is the one she shares with her ten year old son, Jamil Balogun.
Speaking in a candid interview with media personality Zeze Millz, the Somebody’s Son hitmaker reflected on her romantic history, admitting that none of her past relationships ever gave her a “soulmate” connection. The 45-year-old confessed:
“I don’t think I’ve experienced true love apart from my son. Every time I look back at my relationships, I’m like, nah, that wasn’t love. I was just infatuated… I’ve never had that soulmate experience. I’ve tried over and over again.”
Tiwa was previously married to her former manager Tunji ‘TeeBillz’ Balogun. Their union began with a lavish traditional wedding in Lagos in November 2013 and a glamorous white wedding in Dubai in April 2014. The marriage produced their son, Jamil, in July 2015.

However, the relationship ended in a highly publicized breakup in 2016 after accusations and counter-accusations, including emotional abuse claims from Tiwa. Their divorce was finalized in 2018.
Since then, Tiwa Savage has focused on motherhood and her thriving music career, collaborating with global stars such as Beyoncé, Brandy, and Sam Smith.

In the same interview, Tiwa stated that she is done dating broke men and is ready to experience what it feels like to be in a relationship with wealthy men. She shared:
“I used to make the mistake of dating down. Saying things like, ‘I don’t care if you’re not making money, it’s just love.’ But now? I think I need someone that just has money.”
The ‘Koroba’ hitmaker said she’s finally done experimenting with love built solely on vibes and promises. According to her, she’s ready to flip the script and give wealthy romance a try.
