The perceived tension between Burna Boy and Wizkid appears to be intensifying amid ongoing online fanbase clashes. Since American rapper Gunna dropped his album featuring Afrobeats giants Wizkid and Burna Boy, the two artistes’ loyal supporters, Wizkid FC and the Outsiders, have allegedly engaged in a heated back-and-forth of trolling and subtle digs.
According to circulating social media screenshots, the situation escalated after Burna Boy, via what’s believed to be a secondary Instagram account, shared a throwback performance photo with the caption: “This is 2021. And I’ve been doing this since GLO and Star Trek tour days. Na just last Christmas una start am. FC, tread softly o. Body dey pepper me.” He allegedly followed up with: “Create your happiness any Wich way. It’s allowed!”
Many interpreted this as a subtle swipe at Wizkid’s fanbase. In response, one Wizkid supporter accused Burna of reacting out of frustration, reportedly writing: “Bro just stfu. Who don pass you don pass you nothing wey u fit do egbon. See as FC dey make you dey explain, and cry every hour.”
Burna Boy allegedly fired back: “Ok, I don gree, anything Gumbody him pass me. But na me dey sell stadiums for where ur idolo dey cancel him small small venues. Bro just dey happy dey go, Free me. My own no good.” The “idolo” mentioned was seemingly a reference to Wizkid.
Further stirring speculation, Burna was said to have commented elsewhere that he pioneered going shirtless on stage during the 2014 GLO tour, insisting: “Only the biggest can run it don’t play. All love. But I did this in 2014 for the first time… I no fit dey follow una drag. Enjoy.”

In what fans saw as a rebuttal, Wizkid allegedly took to Snapchat with a blunt post reading “Weirdo!” followed by cryptic messages like “Dead, tired and burnt out souls!!” “Oloshi” and “Pray for happiness.”

The speculation deepened when, during a recent performance, Burna Boy reportedly distanced himself from the long-referenced Afrobeats “Big 3” tag that includes himself, Wizkid, and Davido — asserting there is now “Big 2, and then him, Burna Boy.”
