Your uncle didn’t check on anyone either – Etinosa claps back at Uriel over ‘fake love’ comment

Celebrity Gig

The Nollywood community is mourning the passing of veteran actor Fabian Adibe, who died on Wednesday, August 20. While tributes continue to pour in, actress Etinosa Idemudia has stepped in to calm rising tensions following a heated post by singer and reality star Uriel Oputa.

Uriel, who was deeply shaken by the loss of her uncle, vented on Instagram, warning against what she described as “fake love” from colleagues and fans.

Late Fabian Adibe

I’M JUST WAITING FOR THE FAKE LOVE TO START. I CAN’T SAY MUCH OUT OF RESPECT. BUT YOU SEE THIS ONE HERE IT’S VERY PERSONAL TO ME… NOBODY CHECKED ON MY UNCLE,” she wrote, before thanking close friends who stood by her family.

In her response, the actress urged Uriel Oputa and others to allow people grieve in their own way, stressing that public tributes should not be dismissed as insincere. Etinosa wrote:

“Agreed, we all have the right to grieve however we want. But every time a celebrity dies, there’s always that one person looking for a fight about ‘don’t post him, don’t show fake love.’ His colleagues and fans have every right to show sadness over his passing whether they checked on him or not. It is not fake love.”

She further reminded mourners that everyone carries personal struggles, and even the late Fabian Adibe could not possibly have checked on everyone when he was alive.

Everyone has something they are dealing with and your uncle didn’t check on anyone either when he was strong. Let’s not always soil a great person’s memorial with unnecessary fights/bad energy. Allow people show love however they can….be kind to one another,” she added, while sending condolences to Uriel.

Fabian Adibe was 81 when he passed. The Things Fall Apart actor reportedly passed peacefully at 2:30am on August 20.
