Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has made a U-turn after publicly lashing out at her senior colleague, Afeez Owo, the husband of actress Mide Martins, over his description of her character.
The drama began when Afeez, in an interview, was asked about his relationship with the actress, including a comparison between her role in movies and her real-life character.
Afeez responded by describing Toriola as someone who only reacts when provoked. According to him, she does not tolerate nonsense but would generally stay calm if not pushed.
His remarks, however, did not sit well with Toriola, who swiftly fired back, questioning whether she should “rent a husband to hold the mic and spoil things.”
She also criticised Afeez for engaging in what she termed unnecessary drama despite his elderly status, though she acknowledged that she still respected him despite his “unfortunate behaviours.”
The exchange sparked heavy backlash against Toriola, with many stating that she proved Mide Martins’ husband right.
This prompted her to soften her stance in an Instagram video shared from inside a plane, where she presented herself as “a repentant child” and thanked her critics for calling her out.
“The face of a repentant child. It is still all love. Thank you all for the backlash. Omo ta ba fe lan bawi [Translation: We correct a child only because we love her],” she captioned the clip.
