Popular Nollywood actress, Wumi Toriola, has been hospitalised following intense online criticism after she clashed with veteran actor and director, Afeez Owo.
The controversy erupted after Afeez Owo, who is married to actress Mide Martins, spoke about Wumi’s movie character during an interview. Dissatisfied with his comments, Wumi publicly called him out, sparking widespread reactions.
Her response drew sharp criticism from netizens and fans, many of whom sided with Afeez, insisting his analysis was accurate. The backlash quickly escalated, with Wumi becoming the target of online trolling.
On Thursday morning, Wumi shared a photo from her hospital bed, confirming that the situation had taken a toll on her health.
In her caption, she wrote: “Internet dragging and ICU are siblings.”
In the comments section, the actress expressed regret over her reaction and assured fans she would handle situations better in the future.
“I have heard you all, will do better next time. Wish me quick recovery,” she added.
