Founder of Africa Movies Academy Awards (AMAA), Peace Anyiam-Osigwe is dead

The Founder/Chief Executive Officer, Africa Movies Academy Awards (AMAA), Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, is dead.

According to reports, she passed on at the St Nicholas Hospital, Lagos, on Monday, January 9, after a brief illness.

Confirming her passing on social media, her colleague in the movie industry, Obi Emelonye, shared a short tribute to her. He wrote:

“Thank you and good night dada Peace.”

Another Nollywood icon, Mr Mike Nliam, queried:

“How can 2023 start like this?

“The founder of the African Movie Academy Awards (AMMA) and president of the Association of Movie Producers of Nigeria, Peace Anyiam Osigwe, is gone to be with d Lord!

“Nollywood was everything to her! Oh, what a tragic news!

“Life indeed is so fickle! May her soul rest in d bosom of d Lord.”

A respected filmmaker, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe was also the President of the Association of Movie Producers, AMP.

AMMA is an annual award where actors/actresses who have done perfectly well in the course of the year are celebrated for their impact on the entertainment industry.
