“Release Nnamdi Kanu” Rita Edochie Tells federal government

Nollywood actress Rita Edochie has called on the Nigerian government to release Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

Kanu was arrested and extradited to Nigeria from Kenya on June 27, after fleeing the country in 2017 while facing charges of treason and terrorism.

Nnamdi Kanu’s detention has sparked protests and violence in the South East region of the country.

In an Instagram post, Rita Edochie remarked that once the FG releases Nnamdi, the unrest in the South East would stop.

She told the government to quit messing with people’s lives while their children are abroad.

She wrote:

Release Mazi Nnamdi Okwu Kanu today and see the unrest in the South East become history.

Stop playing with people’s life, especially all you Elites. That your children are overseas and you are using other people’s children to create unrest.

If you are one of them your generation and generation to come will never no peace”.

Similarly, Popular Nigerian Actor, Yul Edochie, had earlier pleaded with President Bola Tinubu to release Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who is in detention.

The movie star, made the plea on Tuesday, June 27, 2023, via his Twitter page.

His tweet reads;

To our Leader, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, @officialABAT GCFR. The Jagaban. A man who has fought for democracy for 3 decades, A builder & supporter of men & women.

My President, please release Nnamdi Kanu. A humble request from your son, Yul Edochie.”

In October 2022, the court of appeal in Abuja struck out the terrorism charge filed against Kanu.
