In a show of urgent and deliberate response, Enugu State Commissioner of Police Kanayo Uzuegbu arrived at the home of Chikezie Nwamba, better known as Igbo-Jah—a beloved traditional Ogene musician whose shocking death at the hands of a police officer has left a deep wound in the heart of the Enugu community.
Surrounded by high-ranking state officials, Uzuegbu met Igbo-Jah’s grief-stricken family, bearing both condolences and an uncompromising pledge to see justice swiftly served.
Addressing the sorrow and outrage echoing across the state, Uzuegbu issued a stark statement on Instagram revealing that Inspector Ozonwanji Joseph had been identified as the officer allegedly responsible for the fatal shooting.
In a rare show of transparency, the police even released photos of the suspect in handcuffs—a move that acknowledges the growing public demand for visible accountability.
“The Enugu State Command’s Commissioner of Police, CP Kanayo Uzuegbu, psc (+), in the company of top officials from the state government, visited the family of the deceased Ogene musician, Chikezie Okezie Nwamba (a.k.a. Igbo-Jah), on October 26, 2024, to console them over the unfortunate shooting by a police officer,” the statement read.
